So much is happening to our neighborhood and we'd like to get back in the habit of meeting regularly. Our next neighborhood meeting will be Thursday, August 9 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at the Roosevelt Park Community Center. Some of the things we'd like to discuss include:
1) The City's new Lone Star Community Plan - http://lonestarcommunityplan.org/
According to the website:
The Department of Planning and Community
Development (DPCD) has accepted the recommendation of the Downtown
Strategic Framework to develop a path for the evolution of the Lone Star Community from an industrial
past to a future for arts, entertainment, and creative living spaces.
The plan will consider and develop strategic action steps to address the key themes in the strategic framework including: (1) support quality housing and mixed-use development, (2) improve street and river systems, (3) create destination open space, and (4) construct rail
quiet zones to improve quality of life. This planning effort will
focus on the area’s potential for growth and redevelopment.
